Why Donate to the Scholarship Fund?
Most of the money donated to this fund goes toward prizes for the Scholarship Competition. The Minnesota Chapter holds this competition every two years with the goal of encouraging excellence and assisting students financially in their study of the harp. The categories range from Junior (Under 12) to Adult, with prizes ranging from $50 to $150 for first place. The award money assists with the actual cost of harp lessons, harp workshops, summer harp camps, accessories, or harp books.
Occasionally, should finances be an issue for one of our members desiring to attend a Chapter-sponsored event, the board may draw from the Scholarship fund to cover the cost of their attendance.
How To Donate?
When you submit your membership form in the fall, look for the Scholarship fund box, below the heading “Type of Membership.” Donate however much you would like and add it to your normal membership dues. Interested in donating at another time of the year? Send a check made out to “Minnesota Chapter of the American Harp Society” to the same address as your membership dues and write “Scholarship Fund” in the memo.
